We're headed down to Bahia de los Angeles, a biosphere reserve dubbed the Galapagos of the North. Like all potential explorers of that sliver of sea, we'll also bring our dog-eared copies of the "Log from the Sea of Cortez."

Expedition Background

Devil rays! Whale sharks! Sea fans! Sea lions? We'll dive/snorkel/boat/sit near them! We're planning on diving at least once a day, snorkeling while waiting for tanks to fill up and just getting our faces into everything we possibly can. Dive sites will depend on conditions and the whims of our octogenarian divemaster/philosophical leader.

What do you get when you put a bunch of marine science nerds in a tent on a beach with unlimited ocean access? Stay tuned!

Is that the region where the vaquitas live?

Hey! I know these two! Can't wait for the great photos.

@DavidLang, I think the vaquita are found a bit farther north, but with changing water temps, we'll keep an eye out!

@marius, thanks! We're not going to have much internet access, so will have a lot of post-expedition posting to do!

I would like to join this expedition if at all possible. Contact me if you can at mariusantares33@gmail.com

@squishnak Cool! I look forward to checking out what you explore!
